How your result is calculated
- AIOU has used this scheme for its students from the Autumn 2021 semester onwards. Each band starts at its lower limit and stops just below the next one (for example, 80% up to but not including 85% is A-).
- To pass a BS (ODL) course you need 50% in aggregate and at least 40% in the final exam; a student who fails must re-register for the course when it is offered again.
- A student with less than 40 marks in the final exam gets re-appear chances (FER-1 and FER-2), but only within the programme's maximum duration.
- The BS Computer Science (ODL) degree requires a CGPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0.

How is AIOU GPA calculated?
GPA is the average of your grade points weighted by credit hours: multiply each course's credit hours by the grade point for your grade, add these up, and divide by the total credit hours. Under GPA/CGPA scheme from Autumn 2021, A carries 4 grade points on a 4-point scale.
How is AIOU CGPA calculated?
CGPA is the average of the grade points of all courses taken so far, weighted by credit hours.
Is OpenCGPA an official AIOU calculator?
No. OpenCGPA is independent and not affiliated with Allama Iqbal Open University. It applies the rules published in AIOU's own documents, linked on this page. Your official result is the one on your grade card.
