Rules the calculator follows
  • These mark ranges apply when fewer than 20 candidates take the paper.
  • Grades S, A, B, C, D, E and P are passing grades; F is a fail, and I (did not appear) and X (project, dissertation or training not completed) are treated as F.
  • Under the grace rule, a student who fails up to three theory courses by a small total margin is given P (4 points) instead of F in those courses.
  • Credits of compulsory and optional courses are not counted in the SGPA or CGPA.
  • SGPA and CGPA are worked out to two decimal places, truncated (not rounded).
  • To pass the programme you must pass every course and have a CGPA of at least 5.0. Division: First with distinction at CGPA 8.5 and above; First at 6.5 to below 8.5; Second at 5.0 to below 6.5.

SGPA is the average of your grade points weighted by credits: multiply each course's credits by the grade point for your grade, add these up, and divide by the total credits. Under B.Sc. (Hons.) ordinances (2009–10), S carries 10 grade points on a 10-point scale.

CGPA is the average of the grade points of all courses taken so far, weighted by credits.
