How your result is calculated
BTEB's regulation adds conditions to this average; they are listed in the rules below.
- Semester GPA = Σ(credits × grade point) ÷ Σ credits.
- CGPA = Σ(semester GPA × semester weight). Weights: 1st semester 5%, 2nd 5%, 3rd 10%, 4th 10%, 5th 20%, 6th 20%, 7th 20%, 8th (industrial training) 10%.
- In semesters 1 to 7 the pass mark is 40% (grade D), separately in the continuous assessment and the semester-final examination, and a student must pass the theory and practical parts of each subject separately.
- Industrial training (8th semester) needs at least grade C+ (50 marks in a hundred) in both its continuous and final practical assessment.
- After passing all subjects and receiving a CGPA, a student may sit an improvement examination once, in up to six theory subjects of the 5th, 6th and 7th semesters, at the next semester-final examination; an improved result replaces the earlier one, otherwise the earlier result stands, and the GPA and CGPA are recalculated.

GPA is the average of your grade points weighted by credits: multiply each course's credits by the grade point for your grade, add these up, and divide by the total credits. Under Diploma-in-Engineering Regulation 2022, A+ carries 4 grade points on a 4-point scale.
How is BTEB CGPA calculated?
CGPA is the average of your term GPAs weighted by credits: multiply each term's GPA by its credits, add them up and divide by the total credits.
