Rules the calculator follows
  • A paper's grade point is its percentage of marks × 0.1 (for example, 52% gives 5.2), so the point varies inside each grade band; the table shows the lowest point of each band.
  • SGPA = Σ (paper grade point × credits) ÷ Σ credits of the semester.
  • To clear a paper you need 30% separately in its theory and practical/tutorial components; a failed paper gets no grade point.
  • If any paper of a semester is not cleared, that semester's SGPA is shown as NA, and the CGPA is shown as NA.
  • CGPA = Σ (semester SGPA × semester credits) ÷ Σ semester credits.
  • SGPA and CGPA are rounded to three decimal places.
  • Letter grade on the CGPA: A++ 9.000–10.000 (Outstanding), A+ 8.000–8.999 (Excellent), A 7.000–7.999 (Very Good), B+ 6.000–6.999 (Good), B 5.000–5.999 (Average), C+ 4.000–4.999 (Fair), C 3.000–3.999 (Satisfactory), F 0.000–2.999 (Fail).
  • In the four-year programmes a CGPA of at least 4.00 after six semesters is needed for the Honours degree and to continue to the seventh semester, and at least 7.5 to opt for Honours with Research. The three-year B.A./B.Sc. multidisciplinary degree needs a CGPA of at least 3.0.
  • SGPA = Σ (paper grade point × credits) ÷ Σ credits of the semester; a failed paper gets no grade point.
  • To clear a paper you need 30% (excluding internal assessment) separately in its theory and practical/tutorial parts at the end-semester examination, and 30% in the paper including internal assessment.
  • CGPA = Σ (semester SGPA × semester credits) ÷ Σ semester credits over the six semesters.
  • An Honours degree needs a CGPA of at least 4.000; an Honours candidate with 3.000–3.999, or a General candidate with at least 3.000, gets the General degree.
