Term GPA
Term GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Rules the calculator follows
  • Grade points are for a 1.0-credit course and are adjusted in proportion to the credit value: an A+ (12) in a 0.5-credit course earns 6.00 grade points.
  • The CGPA is the grade points earned divided by the total credit value of the courses, and is truncated to two decimal places with no rounding.
  • The Term GPA uses all courses attempted in the term, including repeated courses and courses extra to the degree.
  • An F (0 grade points) stays in the CGPA until it is removed by repeating or replacing the course.
  • When a course is repeated, the best grade is used in the CGPA. This applies to direct repeats and cross-listed courses, not to precluded courses; Bachelor of Engineering has some exceptions.
  • SAT, UNS, WDN (withdrawn), CR, NR, AEG, AUD, CH, UCH and courses extra to the degree or with no credit for the degree are not included in the CGPA.
  • First Year Grading Policy: in the first two terms of a first degree program, F and UNS grades become NR (not on the transcript, no CGPA impact), and up to 2.0 credits of passing grades may be converted to CR at the student's request.
  • If a course outline uses a different grade conversion, the instructor must state it; the percentage conversion is the default.
  • A Major CGPA (and Core, Minor, Concentration or Specialization CGPA) is calculated the same way using only the courses in that program element.
