- CGPA is the simple average of the grade points of all subjects, leaving out the additional 6th subject.
- Grades E1 (21–32 marks) and E2 (20 and below) carry no grade point; a subject needs grade D or better to qualify.
- For a candidate with a compulsory NSQF vocational subject, the CGPA is taken over six subjects.

How is CBSE CGPA calculated?
Under CCE grading, Classes IX–X (2009–10 to 2016–17), the CGPA is the simple average of the grade points of your main subjects: add the grade points and divide by the number of subjects. A1 carries 10 grade points.
How do I convert CBSE CGPA to percentage?
CBSE's published rule is: Percentage = CGPA × 9.5 (indicative). Class X CGPA under the CCE grading scheme (2010 examination to the 2016–17 academic year). CBSE calls the result an indicative percentage; subject-wise, the indicative percentage is 9.5 × the subject's grade point.
