GPA
GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits
GPA
GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Rules the calculator follows
  • GPA = Σ (credits × grade point value) ÷ Σ credits over all registered academic courses of the study programme, computed to two decimal places.
  • The industrial training component of the 4-year BSc Honours (industry oriented) is left out of the GPA; its non-GPA credits still count towards the credits earned.
  • Enhancement courses carry letter grades only (H, M, S, U, W) and no grade point value.
  • A student with a grade below C may re-sit the examination; the highest grade obtained is used for the final GPA, but for awarding a class (and eligibility for the Honours programmes) the highest grade considered is C.
  • AB (absent) and NC (not complete) are recorded instead of a grade until the course is completed.
  • BSc (3-year) classes: First Class needs a GPA of at least 3.70, Second Class Upper Division at least 3.30, Second Class Lower Division at least 3.00, each with grades of C or better in a minimum number of credits and completion within 3 consecutive academic years. The degree needs a GPA of at least 2.00.
