How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
GPA
GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits

COMSATS's documents list the grade points but do not print the averaging formula; the calculator uses the standard credit-weighted average.

CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Semester credits × GPA) ÷ Σ Semester credits

COMSATS's regulation adds conditions to this average; they are listed in the rules below.

Rules the calculator follows
  • The minimum pass mark in each course is 50%; below 50% is F.
  • In a course with lab work, total % marks = (theory % × theory credit hours + practical % × practical credit hours) ÷ total credit hours, and theory and practical must each be passed separately.
  • An additional non-credit course is mentioned on the transcript but is not used in the CGPA.
  • A student keeps good academic standing while the CGPA is 2.00 or more and is placed on probation if it falls below 2.00 at the end of a semester.
