GPA
GPA = Σ (Units × Grade point) ÷ Σ Units
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Units × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Units
Rules the calculator follows
  • GPA for coursework at Cal State Fullerton = Σ (grade-point value × course units) ÷ total units attempted in courses graded A+ through F, IC and WU.
  • A+ earns 4.0, the same as A.
  • IC (an Incomplete not made up within the time limit) counts as a failing grade, and WU (unauthorized withdrawal) is equivalent to F in the GPA.
  • Credit/No Credit units are not included in the GPA; undergraduate CR means C (2.0) or better and C- or below becomes NC. At most 36 units of CR/NC count toward the bachelor's degree, normally one non-major course per term.
  • W carries no grade points and is not used in the GPA; undergraduates may withdraw from no more than 18 semester units.
  • An Incomplete (I) must normally be made up within one calendar year, otherwise it becomes IC (or NC).
  • Repeats (grade forgiveness): undergraduates may repeat at CSUF courses graded C- or lower; for the first 16 units repeated, only the most recent grade counts in the GPA (the original grade stays on the record). A course may be repeated for forgiveness no more than two times, and the student requests it after the repeat. It can also remove WU, U or WF grades from the GPA.
  • Repeats beyond the 16 units (up to 12 more semester units) or of courses graded C or better count both grades in the GPA.
