GPA
GPA = Σ (Credit hours × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credit hours (failed courses left out)
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credit hours × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credit hours
Rules the calculator follows
  • The minimum passing grade is D in a theory course and C in a sessional course (laboratory, sessional, project/thesis, field work, industrial training).
  • GPA = Σ (credits × grade point) ÷ Σ credits over the courses passed in the term; CGPA = total grade points accumulated to date ÷ total credit hours. F grades are not counted in the GPA and are not shown on the transcript.
  • GPA and CGPA are rounded off to two decimal places for reporting.
  • A course graded F must be repeated (an F in an optional course may be repeated or replaced by a substitute course).
  • The best grade obtainable in a failed course taken at the Self Study examination, or repeated in a regular term, is B.
  • Minimum CGPA for the degree: 2.25 for B.Sc. Engineering and BURP, 2.20 for B.Arch.; at least 155 credit hours (B.Sc. Engineering), 159 (BURP) or 191 (B.Arch.) must be earned.
  • The degree is awarded with Honors for a CGPA of 3.75 or higher.
