How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
GPA
GPA = Σ (Credit hours × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credit hours
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Semester credit hours × GPA) ÷ Σ Semester credit hours
Rules the calculator follows
  • Course marks with a fraction are raised to the next higher whole number before grading.
  • Semester GPA = Σ (course credits × grade point) ÷ total credits; CGPA = Σ (semester GPA × semester credits) ÷ total credits.
  • GPA and CGPA are shown to two decimals; the second decimal is raised when the third decimal is 5 or above.
  • A course graded F must be cleared at the improvement examination with the next batch, or else by retaking the course; no F (grade point below 2.00) is allowed for the degree.
  • A course graded below B (3.00) may be improved once, at the semester final examination with the next batch; the higher of the two grades counts.
  • I (incomplete) means absence from the final examination after taking part in the semester's assessments; the course can be completed at the next batch's semester final examination.
  • The degree requires 120 credit hours, at least a D (2.00) in every course and a CGPA of at least 2.00.
  • The University does not classify results. For external bodies it gives this scale: CGPA 3.50 and above = First Class; 2.50 to below 3.50 = Second Class; 2.00 to below 2.50 = Third Class; below 2.00 = Fail.
