How your result is calculated
- A, B, C and D grades are passing grades; F is the failing grade.
- CGPA = total grade points earned ÷ credits attempted; only courses graded A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, D and F are used to determine credits attempted.
- F carries 0 grade points in the grade point average.
- I, R and W: credits do not apply towards graduation and are not used in calculating the grade point average.
- P and S: credits are required for graduation but are not used in calculating the grade point average.
- When a course is repeated, GPA and CGPA use the grade from the last attempt only; all grades appear on the grade report.
- Additional courses beyond the degree requirements are not counted in the GPA and CGPA.

Questions
How is EWU GPA calculated?
GPA is the average of your grade points weighted by credits: multiply each course's credits by the grade point for your grade, add these up, and divide by the total credits. Under EWU uniform grading system, A+ carries 4 grade points on a 4-point scale.
How is EWU CGPA calculated?
CGPA is the average of the grade points of all courses taken so far, weighted by credits.
Is OpenCGPA an official EWU calculator?
No. OpenCGPA is independent and not affiliated with East West University. It applies the rules published in EWU's own documents, linked on this page. Your official result is the one on your grade card.
