How your result is calculated
- GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours for which letter grades are received.
- Plus and minus grades are worth a quarter point: A- 3.75, B+ 3.25, B- 2.75, C+ 2.25, C- 1.75, D+ 1.25, D- 0.75 (the A+ 4.33 and thirds values apply to the College of Law only).
- Courses with a D or F may be repeated; both the original and the repeat grades are used in the GPA, but credit for only one attempt counts toward graduation.
- Repeating a non-repeatable course earns no additional credit, but the quality points of the later enrollment are calculated into the FSU cumulative GPA.
- Grades earned at another institution cannot be used to improve the FSU grade point average; the transcript shows the FSU (term/cumulative) GPA, transfer credit and a combined overall GPA separately.
- IE (incomplete expired) and GE (no grade expired) count as F in the GPA.
- S/U: an elective taken S/U and passed counts toward graduation but not in the GPA; one elective per term, at most 18 credit hours, and at least a 2.5 GPA is required except in the first term at FSU.
