- Mark ranges are printed in whole percentages: O 91–100%, A+ 81–90%, A 71–80%, B+ 61–70%, B 51–60%, C 41–50%, P 40%, F below 40%.
- A course is passed with at least 40% (grade P) on the in-semester and end-semester marks combined; there is no separate pass mark for either part.
- CGPA is the average of the semester SGPAs weighted by each semester's credits.
- SGPA and CGPA are rounded off to two decimal places.
- A course graded F or Ab earns no credits; an F course has to be taken again at the next examination.
- The 2019 regulations award letter grades relative to the paper's results: from the mean and standard deviation of the percentage marks of all students who appeared (O at the mean plus 2.5 standard deviations or more; F below the mean minus one standard deviation).
- Gauhati University adopted absolute grading for all UG examinations (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. and B.Voc.) from the March 2020 examinations.
- A course is passed on the total of internal assessment and end-semester marks; grade F means the examination must be taken again.
- SGPA is expressed up to two decimal places; CGPA is the average of the semester SGPAs weighted by the credits earned in each semester.
- Gauhati University gives no formula for converting a three-year degree (TDC) CGPA into a percentage: the percentage is the grand total of marks obtained in all semesters ÷ the grand total of marks × 100, using the marks printed on the grade sheets.
