How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
SGPA
SGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits

IGNOU's documents list the grade points but do not print the averaging formula; the calculator uses the standard credit-weighted average.

CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Rules the calculator follows
  • Each percentage band includes its lower limit and excludes its upper limit (for example, A+ is 75% or more but below 85%); O is 85% and above, F below 35%.
  • A course is passed with at least grade D (35%) in both the assignments and the term-end examination, and at least D overall; the two scores do not make up for each other.
  • In a theory course the assignments carry 30% and the term-end examination 70% of the final result.
