How your result is calculated
- IIUI uses absolute grading: the percentage of marks decides the grade.
- Passing marks are 50%; below 50% is F (0.00), and a course graded F must be repeated. The earlier F stays on the transcript.
- A course passed with D or D+ may be repeated to improve the CGPA (at most six such courses in a degree); both grades appear on the transcript but only the better grade counts in the CGPA.
- W (withdrawal) and I (incomplete) grades do not affect the CGPA.
- Non-credit preparatory and language courses, and extra courses taken beyond the programme, are not counted in the CGPA.
- A CGPA of 2.00 is the minimum for the award of a BS degree; a CGPA from 1.00 to 2.00 places a student on probation.

How is IIUI Semester GPA calculated?
Semester GPA is the average of your grade points weighted by credit hours: multiply each course's credit hours by the grade point for your grade, add these up, and divide by the total credit hours. Under Undergraduate regulations 2024, A carries 4 grade points on a 4-point scale.
How is IIUI CGPA calculated?
CGPA is the average of the grade points of all courses taken so far, weighted by credit hours.
Is OpenCGPA an official IIUI calculator?
No. OpenCGPA is independent and not affiliated with International Islamic University, Islamabad. It applies the rules published in IIUI's own documents, linked on this page. Your official result is the one on your grade card.
