How your result is calculated
IUB's documents list the grade points but do not print the averaging formula; the calculator uses the standard credit-weighted average.
IUB's regulation adds conditions to this average; they are listed in the rules below.
- The grade points listed are the quality points used to calculate the GPA and CGPA.
- When a course is retaken, the latest grade earned counts towards the CGPA; a course may be retaken twice only.
- An F stays on the transcript even after the course is retaken and passed.
- Y (Audit): no credit is earned.
- A minimum CGPA of 2.00 is required to graduate from an undergraduate programme.

How is IUB GPA calculated?
GPA is the average of your grade points weighted by credits: multiply each course's credits by the grade point for your grade, add these up, and divide by the total credits. Under IUB uniform grading system, A carries 4 grade points on a 4-point scale.
How is IUB CGPA calculated?
CGPA is the average of your term GPAs weighted by credits: multiply each term's GPA by its credits, add them up and divide by the total credits.
Is OpenCGPA an official IUB calculator?
No. OpenCGPA is independent and not affiliated with Independent University, Bangladesh. It applies the rules published in IUB's own documents, linked on this page. Your official result is the one on your grade card.
