Rules the calculator follows
  • A subject is passed with at least 35% in the end examination and at least 40% of the mid-semester and end-examination marks taken together.
  • Subjects graded F or Ab carry 0 grade points and are included when the SGPA is computed.
  • Non-credit audit courses are marked Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory and do not count in the SGPA, CGPA or percentage.
  • CGPA is the credit-weighted average of the semester SGPAs; SGPA and CGPA are rounded to 2 decimal places.
  • Class: First Class with Distinction 7.5 and above; First Class 6.5 to below 7.5; Second Class 5.5 to below 6.5; Pass Class 5.0 to below 5.5.
  • Each mark band includes its lower limit and excludes its upper limit (for example, A is 80% and above but below 90%); S is 90% and above, F is below 40%.
  • R20 awards the class on the percentage of marks, not the CGPA: First Class with Distinction 70% and above; First Class 60% to below 70%; Second Class 50% to below 60%; Pass Class 40% to below 50%.

SGPA is the average of your grade points weighted by credits: multiply each course's credits by the grade point for your grade, add these up, and divide by the total credits. Under R23 Regulations, S carries 10 grade points on a 10-point scale.
