How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
SGPA
SGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Rules the calculator follows
  • F (failed) carries 2 grade points, not 0, and its credits stay in the SGPA and CGPA.
  • SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits for the semester (credit index ÷ credits).
  • CGPA = Σ credit index of all semesters so far ÷ Σ credits of all semesters so far.
  • In the B.Tech regulations for the 2021-admitted batch, D is the pass grade for theory and C (6 points) is the pass grade for practicals and sessionals.
  • I (incomplete) is a temporary grade for a missed end-semester examination; its credits are left out of the SGPA until the result is complete.
  • Grades in Honours subjects count in SGPA and CGPA; for a Minor, only the two Minor subjects of semesters 6 and 7 (6 credits) count, in place of the open electives.
  • The degree needs a CGPA of 6.0 or more with no F or I grade; no class or division is awarded.
