SGPA
SGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Rules the calculator follows
  • The mark ranges apply to absolute grading. Relative grading may be used instead in course sections with 25 or more registered students; the course handout says which applies.
  • Under relative grading the grade boundaries come from the class mean (μ) and standard deviation (σ); O also needs at least 90% of the total marks.
  • A pass needs at least 40% of the total (Sem-In 60% + Sem-End 40%) and at least 40% in the Semester-End Examination.
  • CGPA = total credit points (credits × grade points) over all semesters ÷ total credits of all courses, to two decimal places.
  • Extra courses with F or DT (detained) grades are still counted in the CGPA.
  • Audit courses carry zero credits and are graded Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory.
  • Degree needs a CGPA of at least 5.25. Class: Pass 5.25–5.75, Second 5.75–6.75, First 6.75–7.75, First with Distinction 7.75 and above (all courses cleared at the first attempt).
