How your result is calculated
- La Trobe uses a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) instead of a Grade Point Average (GPA).
- WAM = sum of (numeric mark for a subject × credit points for that subject) of each subject attempted ÷ total credit points.
- Subjects without a numeric mark (for example ungraded or competency-based subjects) are left out, except Nothing Submitted (NS) and Withdrawn Late (KN), which count with a mark of 0.
- A WAM cannot be calculated while you have an incomplete grade (e.g. XC or W) in the period.
- La Trobe's worked example gives 9075 ÷ 120 = 75.625 as a WAM of 75.63 (two decimal places).

Questions
How is the La Trobe Average calculated?

Is OpenCGPA an official La Trobe calculator?
No. OpenCGPA is independent and not affiliated with La Trobe University. It applies the rules published in La Trobe's own documents, linked on this page. Your official result is the one on your grade card.
