How your result is calculated
- LSAC converts the grades and credits of every course taken before your first bachelor's degree was conferred, including transfer and dual-enrollment credit, and uses every course that can be converted even if your school leaves it out of its own GPA.
- Percentage grades convert as shown (98–100 = 4.33 … below 60 = 0.00); some schools' numeric or three-passing-grade systems are converted differently, as listed in LSAC's Interpretive Guide to Undergraduate Grading Systems.
- Repeated courses: all grades and credits count when the units and grades of each attempt appear on the transcript; an original attempt shown without its grade and units is left out.
- Failing grades (F, No Credit/Fail, Not Passing, Incomplete/Fail, Unsatisfactory and similar) count as 0.00 even if your school treats them as nonpunitive. Withdraw/Fail (WF, WU, WNP) is left out only when your school considers it nonpunitive for reasons other than a repeat or grade forgiveness.
- Left out of the GPA: passing grades from Pass/Fail-type systems, AP credit, nonpunitive withdrawals and incompletes, remedial courses marked as remedial, and noncredit courses.
- Grades for courses removed by academic forgiveness or renewal still count when the grade appears on the transcript; a line drawn through a course does not remove it.
- Work after your first bachelor's degree was conferred (graduate, professional or further undergraduate courses) is not part of the LSAC GPA.
- Credits are in semester hours: trimester hours count as semester hours and quarter hours are multiplied by 0.67.
- College credits earned in high school count in the 2026–2027 cycle; from the 2027–2028 cycle they are left out.
- LSAC reports a GPA for each year, a cumulative GPA for each undergraduate school and a cumulative GPA for all undergraduate work.
