How your result is calculated
RU's regulation adds conditions to this average; they are listed in the rules below.
- This is the UGC Bangladesh uniform grading system, which the University of Rajshahi follows.
- Semester GPA = Σ(credits × grade point) ÷ Σ credits over the courses offered in the semester.
- Yearly GPA (YGPA) = the credit-weighted average of the two semester GPAs of the year; CGPA = Σ(credits registered in a year × YGPA) ÷ Σ credits registered, over the years completed.
- Semester GPA and YGPA are cut (not rounded) to three decimal places, e.g. 3.4999 becomes 3.499. CGPA is rounded to two decimal places: 3.485 becomes 3.49, 3.354 becomes 3.35.
- Courses graded D or higher count as earned credits; a course graded F earns no credit.
- The minimum YGPA for promotion is 2.00 after the first year, 2.25 after the second and 2.50 after the third and fourth years, with at most 9 credits relaxed per year.
- A student who meets the YGPA and credit requirements may improve theory courses graded below B- or clear F grades, for at most 9 credits altogether; if the improvement fails, the previous grade stands. In practical, sessional and viva-voce courses only F grades can be cleared.
- The minimum CGPA for a Bachelor (Honours) degree is 2.50 out of 4.0.
