How your result is calculated
- SFU's calendar gives no percentage ranges for letter grades.
- Grade points = numerical equivalent × course units. Term GPA = total grade points ÷ total units completed in the term, to the second decimal place (calendar example: 39 ÷ 16 = 2.44).
- CGPA = total grade points to date ÷ total units undertaken to date, to the second decimal place. It closes when a degree or diploma is awarded; a new CGPA begins for further studies.
- F, FD and N count as 0.00. N (did not complete) is treated as F.
- Grades without a numerical equivalent (P, W, WD, WE, AE, CR, CC, CF, CN, FX and temporary grades) are not included in the GPA.
- When a course is repeated, the attempt with the lower grade is excluded from the term GPA and CGPA; if both grades are equal, the most recent attempt counts. A course may be repeated once, and at most five courses may be repeated in a degree program.
- Credit is earned with a grade of D or above.
