Rules the calculator follows
  • Grades come from the in-semester and end-semester marks of a course taken together.
  • 2019-pattern engineering has no separate passing minimum for the in-semester exam: a subject needs at least 28/70 in the end-semester exam and 40/100 overall.
  • SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits for the semester; CGPA is calculated the same way over all semesters (semester 3 onwards for students admitted directly to the second year).
  • When a failed course is passed, or a grade is improved, the new grade replaces the earlier one in SGPA and CGPA.
  • SGPA and CGPA are calculated to two decimal places by rounding off.
  • ACN (audit course not completed) carries no grade point.
  • SGPA = Σ(grade points earned × credits for each course) ÷ total credits of the semester.
  • CGPA = Σ(grade points earned × credits for each course) ÷ total credits, over all semesters.
  • PP (passed) and NP (not passed) are used only for non-credit courses and carry no grade point.
  • The final grade comes from the CGPA: O 9.50 and above; A+ 8.25 to less than 9.50; A 6.75 to less than 8.25; B+ 5.75 to less than 6.75; B 5.25 to less than 5.75; C 4.75 to less than 5.25; D 4.00 to less than 4.75.
