How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
SGPA
SGPA = Σ (Credit hours × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credit hours
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credit hours × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credit hours
Rules the calculator follows
  • Each course carries 100 marks and the pass mark is 50%; below 50 is F.
  • Course marks are rounded once, after adding in-semester and final marks: a first decimal of 5 or more rounds up (67.5 becomes 68), less than 5 rounds down (67.4 becomes 67).
  • SGPA = sum of (credit hours × grade points) ÷ semester credit hours, leaving out W and I; CGPA does the same over all semesters and also leaves out replaced (R) grades.
  • F counts as 0 grade points in the SGPA and CGPA; W and I carry no credit and are left out; non-credit courses are not counted.
  • SGPA and CGPA are rounded to two decimal places on the transcript.
  • A course with a grade below C may be repeated to improve the CGPA (at most 5 courses in the programme); only the better grade counts.
  • A CGPA of at least 2.0 must be kept throughout; below 2.0 at the end of a regular semester adds a probation count.
