How your result is calculated
- Letter grades are awarded from each course's rounded-up ("roundup") marks. The lowest passing band, 40% to less than 45%, is graded C- (2.00), not D.
- GPA is the weighted average of the grade points obtained in all the courses completed in a semester; CGPA is the weighted average over every course of the previous semesters and the current semester.
- A student who fails or is absent from a course's final examination gets an F. An F is not counted in the GPA, the course must be repeated, and the F stays on the record.
- For a clearing graduate's final CGPA, if the third digit after the decimal point is nonzero, the second digit is increased by one.
- Credit-only courses add to the total credits if passed but do not affect the CGPA.
- Grade improvement: a student may, only once, improve at most two theory courses graded B- or lower in the previous level by registering in the semesters of the immediate next level (100- to 300-level courses only); if the grade does not improve, the previous grade stands, and an improved grade is marked "Improvement" on the transcript.
- A second major has its own separate CGPA.
- A four-year Bachelor's degree is awarded with Distinction for an overall CGPA of 3.75 or above, but not to a student with an F in any course, a semester drop, incomplete courses or a break of study.
