How your result is calculated
- GPA = total grade points ÷ total semester hours for which grades were received. Hours graded F or U are included; hours graded W, Q, S, X, I and NG are left out.
- Undergraduate letter grades are A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1) and F (0); the plus/minus values printed in Student Rule 10 are for the School of Law only.
- Under the S/U option, S (C or above) is not counted in the GPA, and U (D or F) counts in the GPA as an F.
- Repeating a course does not remove the earlier grade: the cumulative GPA includes all graded courses. Only the highest grade is used for the degree audit.
- An undergraduate may attempt a course no more than three times (Q and W count as attempts, NG does not) unless the dean and the department approve.
- A course already passed at Texas A&M with B or better earns no grade points if repeated, unless the catalog says it may be repeated for credit.
- Only grades for coursework taken at Texas A&M are used in the GPA; transfer coursework is not.
- An incomplete (I) not completed by the deadline, or followed by registering for the course again, is changed to an F.
