How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
Term Grade Point Average (TGPA)
Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) = Σ (Course weight × Grade point) ÷ Σ Course weight
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) = Σ (Course weight × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Course weight
Rules the calculator follows
  • TGPA and CGPA = (course weight × grade points, summed) ÷ total course weights. Single-term courses normally weigh 1.00 and multi-term courses 2.00.
  • Grade point averages are rounded to two decimals with normal rounding: 2.879 becomes 2.88 and 2.874 becomes 2.87.
  • The final course percentage is rounded to a whole number before it is converted to a letter grade: 49.5% becomes 50%, 49.4% stays 49%.
  • The CGPA covers all courses completed while registered in your program of study; courses completed before formal admission to the program are not included.
  • When you repeat a course, the most recent attempt replaces the earlier grade(s) in the GPA even if it is lower. No course can be taken more than three times in total unless your program's standing variations allow it.
  • FNA (failure, non-assessment) and F-S (failure – supplementary) count as 0.00 in the GPA.
  • AEG, AUD, CHG, CRT, DEF, INC, INP, FLD, PSD, CRD, CRV and NCR are not included in the GPA. A failed pass/fail course (FLD) still counts as a failed attempt for academic standing.
  • An incomplete (INC) that is not resolved within the deadline (normally three months) lapses to F.
