UC GPA Calculator
Your semester grades
Add one row per semester grade. Tick honors for an approved honors course: it earns 1 extra point with A, B, C (at most 8 in total, 4 from 10th grade).
| Course (optional) | Grade | Year | Honors | Remove |
|---|---|---|---|---|
How your result is calculated
- Only A-G courses with letter grades taken from the summer after 9th grade through the summer after 11th grade count; 9th-grade grades are not counted.
- A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0. Pluses and minuses in high school courses are ignored (B+, B and B- all = 3) and a C- is treated as a C; pluses and minuses in college courses are used if the college awards them.
- Add 1 honors point for each semester of a UC-approved honors course (AP, IB HL and designated IB SL, UC-transferable college courses, UC-certified honors courses) completed with A, B or C; D and F earn no honors point. One college course = one grade = one honors point.
- Honors points are capped at 8 semesters in total, with no more than 4 from 10th grade (summer after 9th and after 10th grade count as 10th grade). This is the weighted and capped GPA.
- UC GPA = (total grade points + honors points) ÷ number of letter grades. Do not round: 3.875 is 3.87.
- Nonresidents: honors points are given only for AP and IB courses (not school-designated honors courses) with grades of A, B or C.
- Pass (P) and Credit (CR) grades are not included.
- An A-G course with a D or F may be repeated; the repeat grade replaces the original if completed by the summer after 11th grade (grades are not averaged). D and F grades not repeated by then are used in the GPA.
- Campuses may also look at a fully weighted GPA (all honors points earned in grades 10 and 11, no cap) and an unweighted GPA (no honors points).
- Minimum UC GPA: 3.0 for California residents, 3.4 for nonresidents.

Questions
How is the UC GPA calculated?
Add the grade points of every counted semester grade, add 1 honors point for each approved honors grade of A, B, C (at most 8, no more than 4 from 10th grade), and divide by the number of grades. The result is cut off at 2 decimals, not rounded.
Is OpenCGPA an official UC calculator?
No. OpenCGPA is independent and not affiliated with University of California (admissions GPA). It applies the rules published in UC's own documents, linked on this page. Your official result is the one on your grade card.
