How your result is calculated
- Plus and minus grades move in quarter points: A- 3.75, B+ 3.25, B- 2.75, C+ 2.25, C- 1.75, D+ 1.25, D- 0.75. There is no A+.
- GPA = total grade points ÷ credit hours attempted, leaving out hours with NC, W, WP, S, U and I grades; it is recalculated after each term (in summer, after all sessions end). Catalog example: 46 grade points ÷ 13 hours = 3.54 for the term; cumulative (162 + 46) ÷ (54 + 13) = 3.10.
- NC (No Credit) exists only in listed chemistry, English composition, mathematics and statistics courses, where it replaces D+, D and D-; it is not in the GPA.
- Repeats without grade forgiveness: every attempt counts in the GPA. For degree requirements UCF applies the best grade of the first two attempts, or the last grade from a third attempt on; third and later attempts pay a repeat surcharge.
- Grade Forgiveness: in up to two courses whose original grade was C- or lower, retaken at UCF (the same course), only the repeated grade counts in the GPA; once per course, not after a degree is awarded. Forgiveness used within a Florida AA (or articulated AS) degree counts toward the two.
- An unresolved Incomplete (I) lapses to F (U in S/U courses). The work is due by the earliest of the instructor's deadline, one year after the term, or graduation.
- Withdrawal (W), late withdrawal and medical withdrawal (WM) do not affect the GPA.
- The graduation GPA is the UCF GPA (minimum 2.0); baccalaureate honors use an overall cumulative GPA that includes transfer credit.
