How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
GPA
GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Rules the calculator follows
  • GPA = total grade points (grade value × credits) ÷ credits carried; S/U grades are not calculated in the GPA.
  • The GPA is displayed to the hundredths place and not rounded up (for example 3.248 = 3.24).
  • Repeated UF coursework is counted in the UF GPA as many times as grades are recorded, but credit is awarded only once. A course in which a C (2.0) or higher was earned may not be repeated.
  • Grades from other institutions are not averaged with UF grades; when a course is repeated across institutions, only the UF grade is computed in the UF GPA.
  • E, WF, I and NG are failing grades with zero grade points that count in the GPA. W, H, I*, N* and U carry zero grade points and are not counted.
  • An I* or N* is not computed in the GPA for the term received, but if it is not changed after 150 days it counts as a failing grade.
  • A grade of S equals a C (2.0) or better; S/U grades do not carry grade point values. Students may elect S/U for one elective course per term.
  • Credit earned before May 11, 2009 used a different scale (A 4.0, B+ 3.5, B 3.0, C+ 2.5, C 2.0, D+ 1.5, D 1).
