How your result is calculated
- Grade points for a course = credit hours × the point value of the letter grade (A 4.00, A- 3.70 … D 1.00, F 0).
- Semester GPA = grade points earned in the semester ÷ credit hours attempted for a letter grade; courses with W, I, S, U, V, K, NG, NR, WM (and WP, ER) are left out.
- Cumulative GPA counts only courses taken in residence at UGA; the overall GPA also includes grades and hours earned at other institutions.
- Grade point averages are truncated (not rounded) to two decimal places.
- No grade replacement: when a course is repeated, the grade from every attempt counts in the cumulative and overall GPA; credit is earned only once, and the highest grade is used for degree requirements.
- An Incomplete (I) not removed within three semesters (summer counts as one) becomes an F (or U in an S/U course).
- C- does not satisfy requirements that call for a C (2.0) or better.
- A cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 is required for graduation.
