How your result is calculated
- GPA = accumulated grade points earned ÷ accumulated semester hours undertaken; hours attempted but not passed are included.
- Plus/minus grades have counted in the GPA for all undergraduates since Fall 1996; the scale has no A+.
- Courses graded P/NP or S/U, transfer courses and courses taken through cross-registration are not used in the UNC Greensboro GPA.
- A second F or WF in the same course is not used in computing the GPA.
- Grade Replacement: undergraduates may repeat up to 16 credit hours of coursework; when a course is repeated, only the highest grade counts in the GPA, while every attempt stays on the transcript and counts as attempted hours.
- Course withdrawals after the adjustment period are limited to 16 credit hours; WX (Withdrawal With Penalty) counts as attempted hours and in academic standing, while WE does not count in the GPA.
- An Incomplete not removed within six months of the last day of examinations of its term becomes F.
- Academic Renewal: a readmitted student who left with a cumulative GPA below 2.00 may, once, have earlier grades of D+ or below forgiven; the GPA is then recomputed from grades of C- or higher, and Grade Replacement can no longer be used.
