Overall WAM
Overall WAM = Σ (Units of credit × Mark) over all courses ÷ Σ Units of credit
Rules the calculator follows
  • WAM = Σ (mark × units of credit) ÷ Σ units of credit.
  • A course usually graded with marks but finalised without one uses a nominal mark: HD 90, DN 80, CR 70, PS 55, FL 25, AF 0.
  • Courses graded SY/FL only (no mark) and other grade-only results are not included.
  • Marks for courses credited from another UNSW program count in the new program; marks from other institutions do not.
  • UNSW keeps a term WAM (one term or semester) and an overall WAM (the whole program); a faculty WAM may use the faculty's own method.
  • A WAM is not rounded up when checking eligibility for Pass with Distinction (WAM of at least 75) or with Excellence (at least 80).
