How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
SGPA
SGPA = Σ (Units × Grade point) ÷ Σ Units
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Units × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Units
Rules the calculator follows
  • GPA = Σ (G × P) ÷ Σ P, where G is the grade in a course and P is the unit value of that course.
  • If you are enrolled in a course but get no result, G = 0.
  • A course with a non-graded pass (P) is left out of the GPA; a non-graded fail (N) counts as a grade of 2.
  • Grades G, M, K and X count as 0.
  • A grade of 3 or lower is a fail; after supplementary assessment a 3 becomes 3S4 (pass) or 3S3 (fail).
  • UQ sets no university-wide percentage for each grade: the cut-offs are set for each course.
