How your result is calculated
- Letter grades carry these numeric equivalents for each unit; there is no A+.
- UW (stopped attending without withdrawing) and IX (incomplete not finished within one year) count as F, 0 grade points, in the GPA.
- CR, NC, P, NP, W, IP, MG and IN do not affect the GPA.
- Pass/No Pass option: P = C- or better in an undergraduate course, NP = D+ or below; neither affects the GPA.
- First-time freshmen may repeat at USC up to three courses taken in their first two semesters with grades of D+ or below (including UW and IX); only the later grade counts in the GPA, even if lower. Each course may be repeated once for this substitution.
- Other repeats of courses graded D+ or below: both grades count in the GPA and unit credit is earned once.
- An MG not resolved within one year becomes UW (0 grade points).
