How your result is calculated
- WAM = Σ (mark × credit point value × level weight) ÷ Σ (credit point value × level weight); since May 2020 the level weight is 1 for every unit, so each mark is weighted by its credit points.
- All units completed in your course with a mark out of 100 count, including units credited with a mark and units you failed: both the failed attempt and the mark when you retake and pass are included.
- Units credited from another institution, exchange or study-abroad units and results without a mark (SR, FR, CN, DC, DF, IC, RI, UC, J2, WD, NE) are not included.
- Faculties may use other averages (Annual, Semester or Cross-Semester Average Mark, or level-weighted ones such as the Engineering Integrated Honours WAM); check your course resolutions.
- Students enrolled in Semester 1 2020 also get a converted WAM (CWAM) that leaves out Semester 1 2020 marks.

Questions
How is the USyd Average calculated?
Average is the average of your course marks, weighted by credit points: multiply each mark by the course's credit points, add these up and divide by the total credit points. Under Weighted average mark (WAM) it is reported out of 100.
Is OpenCGPA an official USyd calculator?
No. OpenCGPA is independent and not affiliated with The University of Sydney. It applies the rules published in USyd's own documents, linked on this page. Your official result is the one on your grade card.
