How your result is calculated

Rule set v2026.10.02 · Verified 2 Oct 2026
GPA
GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Rules the calculator follows
  • The GPA is based on the total number of credits taken for which grades of A through F are received; plus and minus signs are not used.
  • Every F counts as 0 grade points and stays on the transcript. If a course is repeated, all A–F grades from all attempts are used in the GPA, including the original F.
  • Pass/fail: A through C is recorded as S and D or F as U; neither S nor U is used in computing the GPA. Undergraduates may take one course pass/fail per term and at most 16 credits in total.
  • CR/N (credit/no credit) grades carry no grade points.
  • An Incomplete not resolved by the Friday of the eighth week of the following fall or spring term lapses to F (or N for credit/no credit courses).
