Rules the calculator follows
  • Grades are awarded on the percentage of marks in each course (absolute grading).
  • A course is passed with O, A+, A, B+, B or C; RA (below 50, or absent) means the course must be taken again.
  • SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ total credits registered in the semester.
  • CGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits over all courses counted for CGPA since the first semester.
  • Mandatory courses (graded P or F) are shown on the grade sheet but their credits are not counted in the CGPA.
  • Theory, practical and project courses need at least 50% in the semester end examination and 50% overall (internal plus end-semester).
  • SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits, counting only the courses whose credits were earned in the semester; it is expressed to two decimal places.
  • CGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits earned up to the current semester, expressed to two decimal places.
  • RA and AB courses earn no credits, so they are left out of SGPA and CGPA until passed.
  • Mandatory courses are printed on the grade sheet but their credits are not counted in the CGPA.
  • A theory course needs at least 50% overall and 45% in the semester end examination; a lab or project course needs 50% overall and 50% in the semester end examination.
