How your result is calculated
- The letter grade is the official grade; the per cent ranges are guidelines only and are not part of the official grading scheme.
- Averages are credit-weighted. Two averages are reported: sessional and cumulative.
- All letter grades, including the failing grades E and F, are used to calculate averages and credits. A passed course is one with a grade of D or better.
- Only courses taken at York University are included in the grade point averages.
- A passed or failed course may be repeated twice (three attempts in all). The latest attempt is the grade of record and the only grade in the major, sessional and cumulative GPA, even if it is lower; earlier attempts stay on the transcript marked NCR (No Credit Retained).
- W (Withdrawn from Course) keeps the course on the transcript with no credit and no value in the CGPA.
