SGPA
SGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits
CGPA
CGPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) over all courses ÷ Σ Credits
Percentage
Percentage = CGPA × 10

VTU 2025 scheme: converting CGPA into percentage of marks for employment, higher studies or any other academic requirement.

Rules the calculator follows
  • Grades come from the total of CIE and SEE marks expressed as a percentage (absolute grading).
  • A course is passed with at least 35% of the SEE maximum marks and at least 40 out of 100 (80 out of 200) in CIE and SEE combined; grade P (4 points) or better.
  • A course without an SEE is graded PP from its CIE marks; PP is not part of the 10-point scale and is not counted in SGPA or CGPA.
  • SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits for all the courses registered in the semester.
  • CGPA is calculated the same way over all the courses successfully completed up to that semester; credits of courses graded F are left out.
  • SGPA and CGPA are rounded off to 2 decimal places.

B.E./B.Tech. students admitted from 2025–26. The class is read from the percentage M = CGPA × 10 of the final CGPA. The class is declared after the final CGPA is converted to percentage of marks: M = CGPA × 10 (clause 25OB26.0). As printed: M ≥ 70 FCD; 60 ≤ M < 70 FC; 50 ≤ M < 60 SC; 40 ≤ M < 50 Pass Class. Upper bounds are exclusive. Applies "upon successful completion of the programme".
